What can art teach us about foresight? More than we might think. Using Claude-Joseph Vernet’s paired paintings The Shipwreck and Moonlight as a starting point, this article reflects on the value of “slow looking” in scenario planning. Rather than rushing from signals to implications, it argues for dwelling more deeply in possible futures so people can feel their emotional texture as well as analyse their strategic significance.
